Maarten's journey into commuter bags started at TU Eindhoven, where he studied Industrial Design and became obsessed with solving everyday problems. After graduation, he didn't just study bags from the outside — he spent 8 years working directly with premium Dutch manufacturers in Tilburg, developing an intimate understanding of materials, construction methods, and what actually works for people rushing between meetings, trains, and offices.
During his product development career, he consulted on over 200 bag designs and conducted extensive field research with daily commuters across Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and his native Tilburg. He learned that the right bag isn't about luxury branding. It's about solving real problems — distributing weight properly, protecting electronics, staying organized under pressure, and fitting into cramped bike racks and train compartments.
